Distracted Driver Training

Simulator Screen DriverView

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of accidental deaths for teens in the United States, accounting for one in three deaths, (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Many states have adopted a "No Texting" law that makes it illegal for drivers to read, send texts and emails, and access the web.   However, when a crash occurs, the driver’s behavior that law enforcement agencies cite most often as a contributing factor is inattention or distraction.  Ten percent of all drivers 15 to 19 years old involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted at the time of the crashes. This age group has the largest proportion of drivers who were distracted at the time of the crashes. (NHTSA)

Simulator Systems International’s simulators with the optional Distracted Driving module are convincing training tools that simulate the dangers of texting while driving, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). Each DDS system incorporates actual smart phones – one for the instructor and one for the driver - in order to realistically replicate the distraction caused by attempting to read and send text messages while driving, particularly when holding a device in the driver’s hand.

  • Designed to simulate the dangers of texting while driving

  • Actual hand-held texting devices – one for the instructor and one for the driver

  • Adjustable time intervals for sending automated text messages, including random & on-demand

  • No cellular phone plan or cell coverage needed

  • This training tool can be added to any one of our desktop and cockpit simulators!
